PORZELLANEUM is the oldest student residence of the country. Since 1887 we have been offering places to live and study to students from all over the world. Anyone who is new to the city - wether for a short time or longer - will quickly make friends with us. We set a high value to a good and relaxed relationship with each other. We are happy to help you with everyday problems and also support you in official and bureaucratic matters.
Due to our central location, almost all universities can be reached quickly and easily. We also represent the ideal starting point for all “non-university“ activities. Wether culture, sport or socializing: parks, coffee houses, restaurants, clubs, the danube canal and the famous Ring road are virtually around the corner.
We would be happy if the PORZELLANEUM will become your new home. We are always looking forward to new flatmates in our dormitory!
About Us
Though we are from the century before last, we are certainly not from yesterday!
Since the foundation by Archduke Rainer in 1874, it has always been our highest goal to offer young people a second home in the middle of a vibrant city. As the oldest student residence of the country, over the years we have become a meeting place for students from all over the world, which combines a strong community sense. Those who want to convince themselves of our hospitality and cosmopolitanism are welcome to visit us during our hotel season from the beginning of July to the end of September. If you set value to find a home far away from home, we would be delighted to welcome you at our place.

Facilities
The Porzellaneum has 72 single rooms and 46 twin rooms distributed over 4 floors. All rooms are equipped with washing facilities and the usual furniture such as closet, bed and desk. On each floor there are sanitary rooms and showers as well as the kitchens. All premises are regularly and conscientiously cleaned by our dedicated cleaning forces and our home technician takes care of the maintenance of the house.
So that you can relax a bit next to studying, we offer you some ways to do that directly in the house:
- Gym with dumbbells, treadmill, fuel wall, benches. Medicine balls
- Club room with table tennis table, cozy couches, aquarium with 2 turtles
- music room with wings
- Green courtyard with tables and benches
- TV rooms

I lived in the Porzellaneum throughout my student life and besides the great location in my favourite district of Vienna it was the central part where I met many amazing people and always felt at home.
